SHARED AIRS: OUR THRIVING FOLK MUSICS

Special Exhibition at the Royal College of Music Museum in London

Opening on Tuesday 19 May 2026, Shared Airs: Our Thriving Folk Musics explores the co-creation of musical culture within rich folk music traditions. Vibrant and inviting, it interweaves the stories of people and instruments, delving into the diversity of contemporary folk music and dance across these isles.

Each design was meticulously hand drawn, taking the viewer down a forest path from day to night. Ribbons from the maypoles dance through the sky, leading to a cozy fireside scene. Taking inspiration from traditional lino-cuts, whimsical illustration, and inviting spaces, Shared Airs creates a sense of community to any who explore the exhibition.

Kurt Cobain Unplugged debuted at the Royal College of Music Museum in 2025 in London, and reunited two legendary pieces: Kurt Cobain’s guitar and his famous mohair cardigan, worn during his iconic MTV Unplugged performance.

Inspiration for the museum graphics stemmed from much of Kurt Cobain’s love for grafitti, 90s grunge, and alternative rock. Embracing a bold color scheme, the designs aimed to complement these incredible pieces of rock history.
