Object Description: Copper alloy figurine consisting of the body of a cobra with the head of a female goddess (likely Isis-Thermouthis). Wears a sundial headdress with twisted strands of hair that are shoulder length and form a small bun in the back. Cobra body has small scale engravings on each side of the body with parallel stripes running down the front.
Condition:
Object possesses fairly intact engravings and has an orange patina across its front side. A majority of the front of the figurine shows signs of stabilized corrosion while the back has a series of pits and blisters that are pale green in color.
Treatment:
Removed Liquitex coating with acetone using swab. Mechanically removed corrosion the object using swabs, scalpel, sewing pin, and glass bristle brush. Performed a solution of 3% BTA in Ethanol and soaked overnight. Used a scalpel to remove a corrosion sample. Sample tested positive for chlorides using a silver nitrate test.
